Greetings Brethren!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. I know I’m stuffed and have leftovers to last me for a few days, at the minimum!
I wanted to share a few things with you as we get ready to close out the year.
The December Stated Meeting will be a week from this Monday. That is, December 5th — the first Monday. This is officer elections night for 2012. Ballots will be cast for WM, SW, JW, Treasurer, Secretary and the three Trustees. We will have a meal at 6:30 and open Lodge at 7:30. If you haven’t been to Lodge in awhile, this will be a good time to come, fellowship and get reacquainted with everyone (as well as meeting our newer MMs).
Be sure to watch for the next issue of Indiana Freemason magazine. Eureka Lodge has cracked the Top 25 lodges in the Grand Lodge Ritualist program for the first time ever! We have a group of dedicated individuals who are committing ritual to memory with a passion. Eureka is getting a reputation as the “go-to” lodge for ritual work and it’s not unusual to find 3-4 folks from Eureka at area degrees, helping out. In fact, on a Saturday morning earlier this month, we had folks from Eureka helping out at 4 lodges AT THE SAME TIME. One brother was at Posey Lodge, one at Strangers Rest Lodge, one at Rockport Lodge and two of us at Grandview Lodge. This is a great thing, my brothers, and it’s only going to get better. If you would like to join in the camaraderie, let us know. We try to meet on Tuesday nights at the Lodge building at 7pm and rarely get out before 9, but you’re welcome to come and go as your schedule dictates.
Finally, I’d like to express my gratitude to all of you for allowing me to serve as your Worshipful Master this year. Some highlights of the past year include Most Worshipful Brother Dennis T. Herrell, PGM of Free & Accepted Masons for the state of Indiana receiving the Gold Honour Award from the York Rite College, raising Br. Jason Kinder to the sublime degree of a Master Mason, welcoming Br. Parvin Payton who transferred his membership from Strangers Rest, and awarding WB Doug Patmore with his Master Ritualist pin, as well as WB Cass “Pete” Easley, Br. Marty Griffith and Br. David Rodriguez with their Ritualist pins. We also finished some improvement jobs in the lodge itself, including finishing the replacement of the roof above the front porch, installing ceiling fans to the Lodge room and, just this week, having fresh insulation blown in.
It has been a great experience and I look forward to the next phase of my Masonic journey. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous New Year.
